Description

The Public Programs and Events Manager (PPEM) is a critical leadership position within Hanna Institute, responsible for the creation of inspiring, innovative, and impactful learning events for our clients, community, and partners. Driven to create immersive events via a range of delivery mediums (in-person, digital and hybrid), the PPEM will push the envelope to envision new possibilities for audience engagement and learning. They will develop, plan and manage a series of events featuring the internal expertise of Hanna staff, as well external luminaries within the field of trauma responsiveness and resilience. From digital Continuing Education (CE) training series to multi-day hybrid summits to collaborative community celebrations, the PPEM will be instrumental in creating learning opportunities that meet Hanna fiscal goals and community need.

Reporting to the Hanna Institute Director, the PPEM will work in close collaboration with the the Business Development Manager and the Hanna Development Team to create and manage a broad-based events calendar that will continue to position Hanna as a thought-leader in trauma-informed culturally responsive care.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Event Planning and Execution

  • Forecasts client/community need and market gaps to identify topics and themes for annual summit, year-round industry-specific learning events and open training series, including in-person, live digital, asynchronous and hybrid events
  • Manages planning and execution of all Hanna Institute events, with focus on delivering innovative and experiential events that set the bar for other learning institutions. Provide detailed project management plans for on-time delivery and successful events
  • Oversees all operations and ensure successful logistics coordination for each event (timeline, venue preparation, vendor selection and management, RSVP and payment platform, digital and hybrid event platform, speakers, etc.).
  • Develops cost assessments and event budgets, monitors expenditures, and evaluates revenue generation and ROI
  • Develop playbooks and processes for how to develop and execute event programs that are consistent and audience specific. Establish best practices to continually enhance Hanna’s reputation in the industry

Collaboration and Evaluation

  • Partner with Hanna Development Team to create event promotion marketing strategies to ensure events are effectively communicated and cultivate sponsorship opportunities
  • Works collaboratively with Digital Learning Specialist to innovate digital and hybrid event offerings
  • Defines an event measurement strategy to evaluate event performance, providing post event analysis tools and recommendations for continual program improvement and return on investment
  • Cultivate post event opportunities for future training and consulting partnerships

Talent Management

  • In partnership with Hanna leadership, identifies diverse array of knowledge holders and luminaries, including academic, indigenous, clinical, population-specific, and community-based focus be featured at events
  • Co-supervise (with Grants and Program Manager) the Community Engagement and Events Coordinator, supporting their professional development, growth, and success

  • Proven experience creating and executing events that are creative, inspiring, and impactful
  • An understanding of virtual events, required technologies, and demonstrated experience in being able to bring virtual components together to produce a cohesive and valuable event experience for all participants
  • Ability to surface creative concepts and innovate around the participant experience
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with speakers and workshop leaders
  • Thorough understanding of project/program management techniques and methods
  • Ability to develop and implement programs consistent with Hanna strategic plan and Institute goals and to ensure that programs effectively address agreed-upon objectives and priorities, operate within budget limitations, and comply with appropriate policies and procedures.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills are required, both written and oral, as well as high-level sophistication and maturity in social and professional settings
  • Excellent leadership and organizational skills
  • Detail oriented, organized, and ability to manage multiple priorities and projects in a fast-paced and supportive environment
  • Ability to continually evolve event offerings based on feedback received or changes in systems, policies, or science.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated willingness to continue to learn and develop personally and professionally.
  • Valid CA state driver’s license

Comments:

  • Must clear background check for a Community Care Licensed facility, including physical, tb and drug test.
  • Sit for extended periods of time and the ability to manage repetitive hand/wrist movements while using a computer keyboard and/or the phone.
  • Bend, squat, stoop, and walk-up flight of stairs.
  • Lift and/or carry up to 20 lbs., occasionally. Duties are primarily performed in an office environment at a desk or computer terminal.
